Receiving a surprise piece of fan art is an unfailingly delightful thing, and so it was with this piccy of Apeman and Monkeyboy swinging into action with their patent-pending biotechnological vine whips. Created by fellow DA resident ThaneBobo, whose groovesome art is on display here, it appeared out of the blue one day and made me go "Blimey!" with a big silly smile on my face. As it transpired, he'd drawn the piece for fun just because he liked the characters. Isn't that fab?

I love this image to bits. The poses are splendidly energetic (and the clever leaves-rushing-past background adds to the impression that the hairy heroes are leaping through the air at some speed), the snazzy colouring gives both apes a proper feeling of weight and solidity, and the facial expressions tell a story all on their own. Apeman really looks like he's out to give some dastardly villain a gorilla-sized smack in the chops, and Monkeyboy's mad toothy grin suggests he's looking forward to plunging into the fray fists-first, as usual.
