Description
And now for something completely different.
While I was at Bournemouth University (10 years ago now, fact fans. Erk, eh?), I was approached by the editor of the student newspaper to produce some cartoons as humorous accompaniments to stories of particular ooh-crikeyness. I came up with this one to illustrate an article on student debt (something that was, and still is, becoming an increasing problem due to the axing of grants and continually-rising tuition fees), and it’s my favourite by quite some margin. The drawings tended to be a bit rushed, so mistakes often crept in, but with this one everything just seemed to fall into place in a highly pleasing fashion. I was especially happy with the student’s coyote-falling-off-a-cliff face, and Mr Morris’ education repossession equipment. (I’d wondered if the blood might attract complaints, but it seemingly caused no upset whatsoever, which just goes to show something, although I’m sure I don’t know what.)
Anyway, I found the original drawing while shuffling through some papers the other day, so I thought it was about time I got a nice high-res scan of it and inflicted it upon the world again. So here it is. Debt collection agencies wishing to complain about unfair representation should write to Mr G Brown at 10 Downing Street, London, or indeed anyone but me.
